Fabulous You!

Yes, you are fabulous!  And so is the new stamp set from Stampin' Up!  Fabulous You is such a pretty set and I wanted you to see the beautiful detail thus the closeup rather than a full pic of the card front.

I heat embossed the image with Stampin' Up White embossing powder, then using my daubers, sponged Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry ink all over...I could have kept going because it was cool playing with the colours!  Oh the possibilities!  I know I'll be using this technique again.

Summer Starfruit is Blooming with Kindness

I like it!  Honestly, I really didn't at first but I've changed my opinion, that is, of Summer Starfruit.  As for the brand new stamp set Blooming with Kindness - I love it!

This little thank you card is big on new, new and more new products! I used new In Colours Summer Starfruit and Midnight Muse, the new Argyle Embossing Folder, new Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and new Bitty Banners Framelits.

The stamped image was heat embossed with white embossing powder (an idea I CASE'd from fellow demonstrator Mary Brown.  I then inked up my dauber with Summer Starfruit to colour in the flower, which doesn't colour the embossed area.  It's fun and easy so be sure to use this technique!

Super Proud Mom!

Inspiration for this card is from my son.  Local school competed  in a track and field meet last week.  My son entered 4 different events; 100m, 200m, 4 x 100m relay and the long jump!  Ambitious, however he won all 4 events!  I'm so proud of him!

I used the brand new Fancy Fan embossing folder for the Whisper White layer.  The Cherry Cobbler 'ribbons' were made using my Bitty Banner Framelits, as was the sentiment.  The '1' is from the new Memorable Moments stamp set and  'congratulations' is from the Family Reunion stamp set.

Stampin' Up! International Bazaar

I bring to you today another card made at our team meeting.  I'm lovin' the new International Bazaar DSP which, for this card was cut into strips.  Looks difficult and time consuming but it really came together quickly.  Such a cool technique; kind of like quilting without the stitching!  And, this can also be made with fabric rather than paper. Be sure to check out the awesome DSP and fabrics in the new Stampin' Up catalogue.  If you don't have your catty yet, let me know.

Many thanks to Leena for teaching the group this technique!

Faux Patina - Field Flowers

I learned this faux patina technique at our team meeting and oh yeah, I love it!  Here's my shout out to Leena, my awesome upline and designer of the card!  The awesome part about this card, other than everything, is you can play with the colours and get a different look each time.  For my card I decided to go heavy on the Marina Mist.

If you would like to make a card like this - email me!

Thank you to the wonderful ladies who attended my Open House today!  It was so much fun! Your cards look great! Let's add a pic of the card we made (the other is in the Sneak Peak post below).

Oops!  That's some of the goodies from today!  Wasn't the fruit dip yummy!  Dare I say the best I've ever tasted?! For sure a dip I'll make again!

Enough teasing....here's a pic of the card:

Two things followers of my blog will notice; my card is not on Whisper White and I used DSP.  As much as I love Whisper White...the base of this card is Very Vanilla.  And why, you may ask?  The Be of Good Cheer DSP match is Very Vanilla.  I love polka dots!!!  Raspberry Ripple was used for the layer and ink colour for the Perfectly Penned Sentiment and Mixed Bunch.  A neat little trick to cover the line between the two layers is to use a 'paper ribbon', and in this case I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch.  Pretty cool, eh?

Congrats to the winners of the door prizes - Lisa and Molly!  Enjoy your new goodies!

Another Sneak Peek - Besty's Blossoms

New, new, new and new!  I'm so excited about these new In Colours, new stamp sets, new ink pads and new framelits and I'm sure you're going to love them!
There are so many great new products...gosh, where to start?  Here goes - the new ink pads are totally fabulous.  Stampin' Up! has made a significant change to their ink pads to make your stamping experience even better!  All it takes is a light tap and you've got colour! For this card I used Gumball Green (also the card base colour), Raspberry Ripple and Midnight Muse.  Don't they just pop on the Whisper White?  The new Bitty Banners Framelits are awesome and naturally the new Itty Bitty Banners stamp set were made for them!  Wait 'til you see the new catty!  Jeepers...how many times did I say new?

By the way....this is one of the cards attendees of my Open House will be making!

A Duck, Swan and a Sheep walk into....

...my yard.  I have lots of pics to share with you today; the first few of a lovely duck who has taken up residence just below my front porch.

I
Isn't she lovely!  I'll have to do some research to see when to expect the arrival of the duckings.
Did I mention there are 9 eggs?

On to the swans.  Okay...they're quilled swans...

As much as I love white on white cards, which I tried, but the swans were totally lost on them.
I chose these awesome colours - Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, and Island Indigo.  Whisper White rounds out the base colours.
You'll notice the swans don't look exactly alike and that's because when I quill, I let the paper direct me.  When I had finished the quilling I took a look at each of the swans, 50 by the way, and they were each unique differently.  Dare I say they had their own personalities!!
To complete the cards, I used:
Square lattice and Perfect Polka Dot Embossing folders
Frame, Oval Scallop Bigz Die
Labels Collection Framelits
Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
Adhesives: Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals

The Sheep Story

I woke early one morning and brrrr it was cold in my room, so I stumbled over to my open window, pushed aside the curtain in order to close the window, and I spot something in my yard.  It wasn't quite light out and although I have bionic eyes (thanks to laser eye surgery), I wasn't clearly focusing.  Anyway, to my amazement there was a sheep in my yard.  Um...so what's a sheep doing in my backyard?  I do live in the city!  Wiping the sleepy-dirt out of my eyes, I'm now really straining to see this sheep and I'm so confuzzled (yes, that's a work in my dictionary)....then...

.oh....DUH....

...it's my rain water barrel. We drained it before winter, leaving it lighter than usual and at the mercy of a big 'ol wind storm.  So there it was, blown from it's perch close to my house, and now on it's side in my backyard...looking like a 'sheep'...really.  I love that story!!  LOL
